The Division of Pediatric Ophthalmology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, seeks a collaborative and distinguished board certified academic pediatric ophthalmologist with experience as an outstanding academic leader and record of excellence in clinical practice, to serve as the next Division Chief of Pediatric Ophthalmology. Open to consideration, this Chief position may be eligible for an appointment to an endowed chair. The Division of Pediatric Ophthalmology is comprised of 12 ophthalmologists and 8 optometrists, with a large support staff including 43 clinical support staff (ophthalmic assistants, orthoptist, RNs) and 12 non-clinical support/administrative staff members. The Division provides comprehensive and nationally recognized clinical service across all pediatric subspecialties within the field and enjoys multiple internal and external interdisciplinary collaborations both clinically and scientifically. The research enterprise of the Division boasts national and international recognition for excellence in basic science and translational funded grants.
The next Chief will lead the Division of Ophthalmology to further expand its clinical footprint in a manner that promotes the use of the most advanced surgical options, improves access for all through current and expanded delivery models and achieves highest quality pediatric patient care. This vision will be congruent with Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center strategy to integrate the surgical sciences and further strengthen relationships with external affiliates and drive tertiary and quaternary patient care growth through new programs and partnerships.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will be an outstanding academic leader and respected researcher and clinician with demonstrated ability to effectively inspire, lead and mentor. The following personal qualities and professional qualifications and experience are expected:
Ability to develop a collaborative vision, with a record for successfully implementing new initiatives that advance the field or ophthalmology.
Experience with leadership and management of financial and other resources
Demonstrated experience in recruiting, retaining, and mentoring top faculty and students
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that build and maintain trust with faculty, staff, administration, trainees, and all other stakeholders.
Demonstrated commitment to valuing and actively promoting diversity
Respect for the tradition of collaborative science at Cincinnati Children's
MD, DO, MD/PhD degree, or equivalent
Qualified for Associate or Full Professor Rank
Extensive knowledge of research in the field of Ophthalmology
Outstanding academic credentials with an established or emerging leadership record
Experience within the academic medical center setting and working with a culturally diverse population.
