Reporting to the System Chief Operating Officer, the System Vice President of Real Estate, Facilities, and Construction is responsible for construction, real estate, clinical engineering, and managing the maintenance and operations of 9 hospitals and multiple ambulatory sites. The System VP will have 10 direct reports: a Senior Director of Design and Construction, Senior Director of Safety, Security and Emergency Preparedness, 5 Directors of Facilities, a Director of Sustainability, Director of Clinical Engineering, and a Director of Environmental, Health & Safety.
A key responsibility of the role is to champion a culture of safety and operational excellence. The System VP will ensure compliance with DNV Environment of Care and Life Safety standards, lead emergency preparedness initiatives, and optimize facility operations to safeguard patients, staff, and infrastructure. This includes overseeing the operational execution of a comprehensive space management strategy that enhances cost efficiency, maximizes space utilization, and ensures adherence to regulatory and safety standards. Data-driven decision-making will be essential in existing and future infrastructure investments.
In alignment with Rochester Regional Health's (RRH) strategic plan, the System VP will lead capital planning for all new construction, remodeling, and renovation projects, as well as forming strategic external partnerships and managing ongoing efforts with ENFRA. The System VP will ensure design continuity and apply proven frameworks to maintain operational integrity and consistency. Additionally, they will provide strategic leadership in aligning facilities planning with long-term organizational priorities, optimizing capital investments, and reinforcing stakeholder confidence through transparent, data-informed infrastructure decisions.
The appropriate candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree (a Master's degree is preferred) and have ten years of facility management experience in an acute care setting with increasing responsibility. One who has excellent interpersonal skills with a proven track record of developing strong, meaningful relationships at all levels is critical to this executive's success. Experience overseeing multiple hospitals will be viewed favorably. Candidates should have knowledge of hospital operating procedures as well as a deep technical expertise, comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local building codes, construction management, property management, safety and security management and medical equipment management.
