Description
The UCLA Health Workplace Violence Prevention (WPVP) Program Manager is responsible for oversight of the WPVP program throughout UCLA Health hospitals; providing expert knowledge and skills in applying and interpreting state, federal and local regulations. The Workplace Violence Prevention Program Manager will have strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including advanced political acumen and skill to effectively communicate with diverse constituencies. The WPVP Program manager will have advanced skills in effectively representing the organization to state and federal authorities, and community groups. They will have advanced analytical and organizational skills to organize, prioritize and manage the WPVP program and all related incident reports, including but not limited to, follow-up and reporting requirements to the state for incidents of WPV. The Workplace Violence Prevention Program Manager is responsible for data collection related to WPV incidents, analysis of data to determine trends and mitigate the likelihood of future incidents and reporting of that data to various workgroups and committees.
The WPV Program Manager will apply expert investigative methods to follow up on incident reports and ensure timely regulatory reporting and follow up on corrective action. Coach, counsel and train UCLA Health managers and employees in WPVP, enhancing awareness, problem solving and planning.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Human Resources, Security, Behavioral Health, Law Enforcement) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least 5 years of experience in project management and workplace violence prevention (WPVP) program development or management.
At least 3 years of experience in program development and implementation, as well as violence training and awareness.
Demonstrated experience conducting workplace investigations, including employee-related incidents.
Familiarity with WPVP policies, procedures, and best practices.
Strong analytical skills; ability to assess complex problems with multiple variables and develop sound, innovative solutions.
Skilled in producing clear, concise, and well-organized reports, procedures, and presentations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Effective oral communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence others and communicate complex ideas.
Ability to work sensitively and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, fostering mutual respect and equity.
Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations related to WPVP.
Familiarity with complaint processes of relevant agencies such as EEOC, DFEH, OFCCP, OCR, and DOL.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
Must possess or obtain a valid California driver’s license within 3 months of hire; participation in DMV Pull Notice Program required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a healthcare or hospital setting.
Knowledge of UC and UCLA Health policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements.
Familiarity with UC WPVP-specific policies and regulatory requirements.
Strong knowledge of security best practices and standards.
Demonstrated ability to represent the organization to state/federal agencies and community partners.
Advanced organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints.
3+ years of experience in business, healthcare administration, public health, safety, security, or a related field.
Strong understanding of HR and UC systems, policies, and processes.
Specialized training and/or certification in de-escalation or assaultive behavior management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including active listening and effective follow-up with employees and managers.
Experience facilitating trainings, meetings, and group discussions.
Instructor certification in a de-escalation or behavior management program (e.g., PSP, CPP from ASIS, Managing Assaultive Behavior, CPI, AVADE, McAfee Institute).
Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Political Science, Security Studies, Intelligence, Business/Public Administration, Security Management).
