Job Summary:
The Associate Chief Medical Informatics Officer (ACMIO) serves as a principal partner to the Chief Medical Informatics Officer (CMIO), playing a vital role in bridging the gap between frontline clinicians and the organization's health IT initiatives. As a senior leader within the medical informatics leadership team, the ACMIO is responsible for executing the CMIO's strategic vision, ensuring that clinical information systems enhance provider workflows, improve patient outcomes, and drive operational efficiency.

The ACMIO works closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other clinical stakeholders to facilitate the adoption, optimization, and meaningful use of electronic health records (EHRs) and related digital health technologies. This role focuses on translating high-level informatics strategy into actionable improvements at the point of care, troubleshooting workflow challenges, and serving as a liaison between medical staff and IT teams.

In addition to leading training, engagement, and change management efforts, the ACMIO plays a pivotal role in gathering feedback from frontline providers, identifying areas for improvement, and working collaboratively with the CMIO to refine system design and implementation. The ACMIO also contributes to governance, clinical decision support initiatives, and data-driven performance improvement strategies, ensuring that technology solutions align with the evolving needs of clinicians and patients.
By fostering strong relationships with providers and ensuring that IT solutions are intuitive, efficient, and clinically relevant, the ACMIO helps drive digital transformation in a way that enhances both physician satisfaction and patient care quality.

The ACMIO will report up to the Chief Medical Informatics Officer.

Minimum Qualifications

Degrees:
Masters degree in Health Informatics
Doctor of Medicine

Licenses and Certifications: Board Certified in Clinical Informatics from ABMS.

Work Experience: Eight (8) years of experience to include a combination: as a provider (may include residency); informatics; EMR implementation, Epic EMR (preferably in Ambulatory and Inpatient); experience in an academic medical center environment; process improvement/quality management.

Management Experience: Five (5) years of Management experience as instructor or progressive management roles, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory capacity.

Other Requirements:
The Associate CMIO role is structured as a full-time, non-clinical leadership position within Harris Health. However, the Associate CMIO may engage in clinical practice in addition to their full-time informatics duties, contingent upon the needs of the health system and at the discretion of the CHIO and executive leadership. Any clinical time will be structured to ensure that it does not conflict with the Associate CMIO' s primary informatics leadership responsibilities.
