Palo Alto Chief of Endocrinology

 
This is a 1.0 VA position, which includes a mix of clinical care, teaching, research (optional) and administration. The incumbent will supervise other staff in the Endocrine Section. The individual will be an integral part of the Endocrine Section's scholarly and academic programs. This position includes direct patient care and teaching activities in the Endocrine Section. The incumbent will be responsible for assessment and care of new and returning patients, ordering diagnostics, consultations, medications, and other therapies as medically indicated while completing all required VA computer documentation including clinical reminders and screenings. The incumbent will be primarily located at VA Palo Alto Health Care System. 

The following will be the primary functions of the position:
1. Understands and follows VHA's "Mission Statement", "Code of Ethics", organizational policies, and structure.
2. Supervises staff in the Endocrine Section.
3. Provides clinical care in the Endocrine Section.
4. Provides supervision of fellows, medical house-staff, and students as needed.
5. Provides on call coverage responsibilities as necessary.
6. Performs additional duties as needed to achieve the VA Mission at the direction of the Service Chief.
