POSITION SUMMARY: System Administrator I participates in support of one or more core network services, such as email, anti-virus, application deployment, server hardware and operating systems, directory services, network printing, backup and recovery services, and others. The System Administrator I is expected to remain current on developments in advancements related to area responsibilities. In addition, analytical and problem solving skills are critical to troubleshooting and resolving problems. The System Administrator I is responsible for delivering high quality cost-effective solutions to all levels of users and is also responsible for supporting the business goals and objectives for the Information Systems department and the organization as a whole.
EDUCATION: Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field preferred, or equivalent experience (4 years) recommended.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer required, Unix/Linux certification, Storage Certification or other industry designations a plus.
Working knowledge of mainframe, midrange, and microcomputer, networking strategies, environments, equipment, development tools and methodologies.
Working knowledge of mainframe or midrange operating systems such as UNIX, Linux, Windows 2000, Windows 2003.
Problem solving skills.
Patience, strong customer service skills.
Four years in an information system environment with technical experience in one or more of the following areas: system maintenance and support, database administration, operating system configuration, system monitoring, troubleshooting, software implementation and support recommended.

General office setting with exposure to computer room environment. Exposure to patient care and ancillary biohazards. Extended video display exposure and use of keyboard.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift and transfer objects typically not in excess of 50 lbs. May be required to reach objects typically not in excess of 5 lbs. up to 8 ft. above the floor with the assistance of a step stool. Extended use of video display terminal and keyboard utilizing sound ergonomic principles.
