Direct the clinical functions o PCHC WIC services, provide supervision, mentoring and training to WIC providers. Collaborate with practice and organization leadership, other medical directors to ensure efficient, effective, standardized and quality WIC services. Provide WIC services to maintain competencies and support WIC providers.
Walk-in-Care Highlights
Dynamic and collaborative role embedded in outpatient primary care practices in multiple Maine locations
The Director will combine direct patient care and clinical program oversight
WIC setting is by nature unpredictable, so the position requires flexibility
Successful candidates must be comfortable with a high degree of variety in cases from day-to-day
Encounter the full gamut of medical conditions- from acute illness to chronic disease
Work with all ages across the lifespan
There is synchronous clinical support during all hours of operation
Common procedures include suturing, incision and drainage of abscesses, removal of soft tissue foreign bodies, closed reduction of simple fractures and dislocations, splinting
On-site services include family medicine, primary care pharmacy, behavioral health, rehabilitation, medication management, social services

Graduation from an accredited medical school and residency, or Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
Current license to practice medicine as a physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the State of Maine
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a physician, family nurse practitioner, or physician assistant with at least 3 years of experience providing urgent care, emergency care, and/or WIC services required. Leadership experience preferred.
Current DEA license.
Will have up-to-date training and certification in Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Health & Safety Institute. Must obtain within 2 weeks if not current at hire.
Having a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and/or an appropriate length of driving experience for insurance purposes is required. Any concerns raised by the results of a driving record check will be subject to an individualized review to determine whether the infraction is relevant to the individual’s ability to perform the responsibilities of the position in accordance with PCHC’s Automobile Safety and Background Check Policy.
