The Baylor College of Medicine is seeking an outstanding physician to serve as Division Chief and lead the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Blood and Marrow Transplantation for Baylor College of Medicine-San Antonio (BCM-SA) at CHRISTUS Children’s in San Antonio. The successful candidate will assume the title of Howard A. Britton Endowed Chair in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
Highlights:
BCM-SA established its partnership with the CHRISTUS Health System in 2013 coincident with the transformation of CHRISTUS Children’s into San Antonio’s only free-standing academic children’s hospital. The division currently consists of 8 physicians; two are assigned full time to marrow transplant activities. There is a newly-approved hematology/oncology fellowship training program in addition to CHRISTUS Children’s BCM-SA pediatric residency program. All faculty are employed by Baylor College of Medicine, which offers a highly competitive salary and excellent benefits package including paid relocation.
The program’s outpatient clinic is hospital-based and located in the main hospital tower, on the floor directly beneath the inpatient unit, which has a total of 20 inpatient beds. The program is an active participant and full member institution of the Children’s Oncology Group. The Blood and Marrow transplant program is a member of CIBMTR, NMDP, and PTCTC and is actively seeking FACT accreditation. The H/O/BMT team is fully multidisciplinary and includes social workers, data managers, psychologists, and patient navigators. A full complement of other pediatric specialists are present to assist in the management of the most complex of patients.
The new leader will execute the vision to continue the journey of developing the most comprehensive academic pediatric blood and cancer disorders program in San Antonio. In addition to the support from the Endowed Chair funds, there is a significant new philanthropic initiative underway at CHRISTUS Children’s, with H/O/BMT as a key targeted program of this initiative.
