Associate Medical Director – Hospice and Palliative Care Opportunity for part-time or full-time This position will be based in Grand Junction, Colorado with in-person requirements.

Hospice physicians work closely with an interdisciplinary team of nurses, social workers, chaplains, nurse practitioners, and certified aides to provide excellent and compassionate care.
Schedules are flexible and allow for a work pace that supports not only excellence in patient care but job satisfaction. There is also an on-call rotation providing additional reimbursement with anticipated call 1:5 to 1:6.
HopeWest offers competitive salary starting at $208,000/year for a 40hr/week schedule (prorated for reduced schedules) with generous on-call stipends and benefits. Medical malpractice insurance is also provided at no charge that fully covers the work performed on behalf of HopeWest.
SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Associate Medical Director is a board-certified physician with expertise in hospice and palliative care. This position includes the responsibilities of a hospice physician with an administrative time allocation for additional leadership responsibilities:
Provides and assures expert palliative medical consultation and leadership to the hospice medical provider group and hospice interdisciplinary teams.
The position assures that appropriate medical care policy and procedures and medical standards of care are in place for the appropriate provision of care for the organization in collaboration with other hospice leaders.
Accountable for ensuring appropriate staffing and resource utilization in collaboration with the CMO.
Accountable for the onboarding and ongoing education of hospice Nurse Practitioners and Physicians and ensuring they understand the documentation standards and CoPs for hospice care.
Functions as the Medical Affairs department lead for quality improvement projects.
Serves as the hospice physician liaison with hospice pharmacy partner/vendor.
Serves as Medical Affairs department representative for assigned meetings.
The Associate Medical Director is a liaison between hospice and the physician community.
Additional job responsibilities may be assigned by CMO.

QUALIFICATIONS
Licensed M.D. or D.O. in the state of Colorado.
Board Certification in primary care field. Added Board Certification in Hospice & Palliative Medicine and/or Hospice Medical Director Board Certification preferred.
Controlled substance license with current DEA license number.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Valid Colorado driver’s license and unlimited access to reliable transportation.
Adequate automobile insurance.
Eligible or currently possess a Medicare/Medicaid NPI number.
Eligible or currently credentialed at local hospitals.
Eligible to bill insurance for palliative care and symptom management visits.
