Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement best practices in patient safety and risk mitigation initiatives practices driving a proactive approach and prevention of patient harm.
2. Supervises the investigation of errors and then plans for resolution of all safety-related incidents, including those involving employees, patients, and situations posing a threat to the health care setting and equipment.
3. Maintains records of patient-related errors and evaluates this information to identify the cause of the error.
4. Collects, reviews, and analyzes information from the facility's safety programs to identify corrective action and programs as necessary.
5. Recommends changes, policies, or programs that could prevent future errors.
6. Designs and presents training programs meant to increase awareness of patient safety initiatives.
7. Ensures compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements.
8. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs.
9. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.
10. For the implementation for the safety through the policies, procedures, and guidance and serve as the facilitator for the program sites providing a strategic, investigative approach in monitoring daily tasks and activities.
11. Reviews and analyzes facility occurrence reports identifying clinical risk issues
12. Facilitates the investigation and follow-up on events with the appropriate Directors
13. Analyzes occurrence data for frequency and severity of events
14. Identifies trends necessitating intervention and works with Directors in planning and implementing actions to address identified issues
15. Initiates Probable Claims Report (PCR) as appropriate Coaching, counseling, conflict management, consulting, and influencing skills
16. Requires extensive experience in patient safety, and risk management, performing these activities in a healthcare setting.
