Mohawk Valley Health System (MHVS) seeks a strategic, collaborative information technology executive to serve as its Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer (SVP, CIO). This is a unique opportunity to join a growing health system and dynamic leadership team at a key strategic moment in its evolution as the system finishes the development of a new hospital.
MVHS is a not-for-profit integrated delivery system that serves Oneida, Herkimer and Madison Counties in New York State. MVHS was formed in March 2014 through the affiliation of Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare (FSLH) and St. Elizabeth Medical Center (SEMC), located in Utica, New York. A new state-of-the-art freestanding medical center—Wynn Hospital—is targeted to open in Fall 2023 in downtown Utica. This 373-bed, 702,000-square-foot facility will replace FSLH as well as SEMC and will provide exceptional care to the residents of the Mohawk Valley region.
Reporting directly to the President/CEO, Darlene Stromstad, the SVP, CIO will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and be responsible for all aspects of information technology strategy and operational leadership. The SVP, CIO will be highly visible and provide tremendous impact across the health system and community.
The SVP, CIO will be a visionary, team-oriented and results-driven leader. They will provide the overall vision for IT to effectively guide the future direction of the department in alignment with the organization's mission, vision and values. The SVP, CIO must be able to assess and transform the existing IT environment and develop the plan and structure to enable a high-performing team that is customer-service oriented and capable of collaborating effectively with all stakeholders. The SVP, CIO will oversee key initiatives including the Epic optimization process; governance; training and support; selection and implementation of an HR application; the assurance of the information security program; and, advancement of the data analytics program.
This position will require a mature, confident IT leader with demonstrated experience leading IT transformations in a complex and growing health system. The SVP, CIO will be able to build strong relationships with all stakeholders across the enterprise; be collaborative, innovative and team-oriented. The SVP, CIO will also be able to facilitate change and balance resources and priorities effectively.
