Samaritan Health Services a non-profit integrated health care delivery system, is seeking a Mental Health Medical Director to join our team.
Responsible for providing clinician leadership in areas of Customer Experience, Growth, Performance, Communications, Physician/Hospital Relationships, Community Engagement and Quality. Assists with development and execution of SMG goals. Works in collaboration with the assigned dyad-administrative Director.
The directorship carries an FTE of .3. Additional .7 FTE will be clinical work, as a psychiatrist with Samaritan Health Services.
Job Specifics
Serves as primary point of information and contact for SMG Administration in their department(s) and/or region; to include all Samaritan sites and hospitals. Serves on quality and operations committees, as needed. Meets periodically with clinicians, practice managers, and hospital leadership. Acts as a spokesperson and leader for SMG.
In collaboration with the Director, assists in defining and implementing action plans for realization of SMG goals and strategy. In collaboration with the Director and Professional Services group, establishes an “on-boarding” process for new SMG clinicians in the department(s) and/or region.
As designated or appropriate, establishes routine and effective relationships with hospital leadership, offering clinician leadership and services as needed or required.
In coordination with the Director, establishes goals for individual performance, and performance of the department/(s) and/or region. These may include productivity, finance, budget performance, outreach, and other metrics. Monitors performance dashboards for the department(s) and/or region and works with the Director to establish action plans for all areas noted to be deficient.
Ensures clinician staffing and call coverage for all areas of responsibility. Empowered to direct staffing, coverage and resources as situations and performance direct. Leads the development and nurturing of relationships with referral MDs, hospital administrators and other sources within the department(s) and/or region.
Maintains awareness of market dynamics and communicates changes and opportunities to the AVP/Senior Medical Director and SMG administration.
Working with Marketing, identifies and acts upon opportunities in the local communities of the department(s) to promote SMG, integrate SMG into the community and provide overall community benefit.
Actively identifies referral source opportunities for SMG within the department(s) and/or region and develops action plans to promote referrals and growth for SMG in cooperation with Marketing.
In collaboration with the Director, creates a culture of behavior within all SMG that embodies the PRIDE statements and SMG compact. Ensures all SMG processes focus on a positive customer experience. Ensures that the Director and practice managers/practice leads quickly and assertively address and correct any situations that do not adhere to a customer service-oriented environment.
Ensures all SMG clinicians and staff are educated on the results of patient, employee and clinician satisfaction surveys. Working with clinicians and practices, develops systems for SMG that actively promote patient satisfaction with SMG clinicians and staff. Monitors patient satisfaction for all SMG offices in the department(s) and/or region, working with the Director to develop action plans as indicated.
Accepts and performs other work as assigned.
Job Requirements
Unrestricted licensure or qualified to obtain licensure to practice psychiatry in the state of Oregon required.
Management experience (such as serving as a Medical Director or Practice Lead) preferred
Should possess excellent clinical skills, communication skills, and a strong commitment to providing excellent care that is team oriented.
