SUBFUNCTION DEFINITION: Responsible for business related financials and integrated operations infrastructure, aligning medical operations with departments to better organize, mobilize, execute, and improve across all sites of care.
CAREER LEVEL SUMMARY: Provides leadership and direction through senior managers across multiple divisions and departments. Accountable for results / performance of a major part of the organization. Shapes and executes organizational strategy.
SCOPE: Provide, communicate, and implement strategic, operational, and programmatic plans within clinical and research divisions and among partner department and divisions across CCHMC.
Representative Responsibilities
Human Resources Management - Direct the development and monitoring of an effective staffing and retention strategy, including hiring and terminating employees, workforce planning, succession planning; attract and retain top performers, partner with Human Resources to develop effective and appropriate recruitment packages, and effective on-boarding programs for staff; effective performance management of direct reports; provide mentoring and development to faculty and other leaders in effective performance management; mentor and provide learning and development opportunities for direct reports and others in business roles; effectively and appropriately leverage human resources business partners to meet the division's talent management goals; support organizational programs/plans that impact employees and ensure communication, comprehension, and adherence to all Human Resources policies and related legal and/or compliance requirements.
Strategic Relationships and Market Development - In partnership with Surgeon-in-Chief and in alignment with Strategic Planning and CCHMC growth strategic plan, developinitiatives, assessing new markets and new geographies, analyzing business opportunities, and determining financial viability and operations rollout, in conjunction with senior leadership and faculty. Coordinate with divisions and departments on existing, new, and expanded product service development for strategy, negotiation, and execution. Conduct financial feasibility studies and develop proposals for new business opportunities.
Leadership - Serve as the key liaison between organizational leadership and reporting functions for operations, finance, and administration. Build and maintain the relationships necessary for the provision of care, and growth, both internally and externally. Provide senior administrative leadership for all associated divisions including all direct and indirect reporting personnel.
Planning and Program Development - In collaboration with and in support of the Surgeon in Chief, lead strategic planning of the Department including the development of new clinical, research and translational programs directed at improving patient outcomes as well as financial results. Continuously monitor and evaluate existing programs for improvement opportunities. Ensure assumptions related to patient volumes, physician staffing, clinical production, research funding and capital investments that underlie the strategic plan are fully aligned with the Medical Center's budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans. Coordinate, plan and integrate clinic and office space needs for divisions. Lead, organize/structure the Department to best support the associated responsibilities in support of the CCHMC strategic plan. Provide overall operational oversight to ensure programmatic efficiency and effectiveness. Work collaboratively with Shared Services, Radiology, Anesthesiology and Research leadership to develop, manage and lead services and programs to meet the strategic objectives. Manage relationships with external organizations and vendors to ensure program development, care delivery, research, technology, and facility meet CCHMC standards. Direct the on-going development, implementation, coordination, marketing, and evaluation of program outcomes.
Fiscal Leadership - Responsible for fiscal planning,accountable for the Department's annual operating and capital budgets. Prioritize sources of strategic funds and associated investments in support of the Institution's strategic plan and the priorities of the Department. This includes oversight of the faculty compensation plan, internal strategic growth investments, the Surgeon-in-Chief's reserve funds, and formulating and executing a Departmental strategy to grow the endowment and support the associated divisions and programs. Develop and manage productivity strategies to promote a productive, engaging, and healthy working environment for our providers given each division's unique staffing situation. Interface with the institutional finance group led by the CFO on departmental and institutional initiatives.
Patient Access, Satisfaction and Safety - Responsible for overseeing, monitoring, and optimizing patient access to clinical care. Monitor performance against access targets and physician standards for clinic scheduling and wait times. Develop and implement improvement interventions in collaboration with the clinical operations team when warranted. Working with the quality improvement, lead to continuously improve patient access and flow, service effectiveness, patient safety and satisfaction.

Required:
Bachelor's Degree
10 years related experience
Senior leadership experience in health care OR Business
Preferred:
Master's degree in a related field
Experience in a complex medical center
