Chief Dental Officer
The Chief Dental Office (CDO) is responsible for the overall Dental services for Ampla Health patients and the operation of Ampla Health Dental Department, providing administrative services as well as direct patient care. The CDO utilizes a balanced approach, includes the perspectives of all health services and has a role definition that is flexible enough to accommodate the diversity of various Ampla Health Dental Clinics and their personnel. The CDO will provide leadership and guidance to the Dental Care Team within the six dental locations. The CDO functions at the executive level as part of the Administrative Team and is required to contribute to executive decision making.
Main Responsibilities & Duties Clinical Management Knowledge: 1). Participates in the development of the annual Ampla Health Care Plan as it relates to dental services based on community and migrant needs. 2). Is active in the development of and acts as a participant in Ampla Health Strategic Plan. (3). Participates in community organization activities designed to enhance preventative dentistry. (4). Works directly with Migrant Education and Head Start migrant children's screening in the summer; when funding is available Administrative Responsibilities: 1). Assists in recruitment of appropriate clinical staff and under the direction of the Executive Director participates in negotiations of dentists contracts. 2). Recommends and participates in the determination of disciplinary actions and terminations. Clinical Supervision Responsibilities: 1). Arranges and conducts meetings of the dental providers. 2). Develops and manages policies and procedures relating to continuing professional education. 3). Reviews in-service training and orientations for clinical staff. 4). Assists the Compliance & Quality Improvement Officer and Corporate Operations Manager in the compliance of all Dental Clinics to OSHA regulations which includes training of staff and compliance with the Ampla Health Injury and illness Prevention Plan. 5). Develops and participates in the Dental Peer Review Program. 6). Writes and presents monthly reports on status of the dental clinics to the Board of Directors. Staff Liaison Responsibilities: 1). Directly supervises dentists and hygienists. 2). Conducts annual evaluations to dentists and hygienists. 3). Authorizes leave for providers i.e., PTO, sick, etc. Professional Representation Responsibilities: 1). Provides direct patient care utilizing best available skills, judgment, and knowledge to effectively obtain desired dental health outcome. 2). Responsible for obtaining laboratory services for removeable and prosthodontics.
Professional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 1). Valid license to practice dentistry in the State of California. 2). Current DEA registration. 3). Current CPR card. 4). Two year experience recommended. 5). Demonstrate clear knowledge of Ampla Health's clinic structure, standards, procedures and protocols> Communications skills: 1). Must have neat and legible handwriting. 2). Must be able to interact with co-workers, patient and vendors courteously and calmly. 3). Ability to communicate well with the public.
Working conditions & physical requirements: Works well with patients, co-worker and vendors in a generally comfortable environment office. Employee must possess the following physical requirements: 1). Must be able to lift up to 40lbs ad push up to 100lbs (on wheels). 2). Must have vision which is adequate to read memos, charts, and other clinic documents. 3). Must have high manual dexterity. 4). Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work, bend squat and sit, stand and twist/turn. 5). May be exposed to contagious/infectious diseases.
