The Senior Program Manager will provide project management experience to continue developing a systems approach to advancing VUMC Academic and Enterprise-wide priorities and mission to personalize the patient experience through our caring spirit and distinctive capabilities. The Senior Program Manager will be expected to grow and manage programs independently in support of the Chief Scientific and Strategy Officer (CSSO) on strategic projects and institutional initiatives through planning, development, and execution, including frequent interactions with executive leadership, faculty, and administrators. The ideal candidate will be a biomedical scientist who has experience working in industry (or similar experience) and an interest in advancing biotechnology and healthcare entrepreneurship.
Basic Qualifications:
This position requires an advanced degree in biomedical sciences or related fields, and 5 years of relevant experience in an academic and/or biotech industry setting. Exceptional organizational, verbal and written communication skills are required.
Preferred Education, Skills and/or Experience:
Experience with science communications, including professional website and social media account management, strongly preferred
Experience with biomedical science project management, strongly preferred
Experience with academic-industry partnerships, strongly preferred
Ph.D. in biomedical sciences or related fields, a plus
Expected Performances:
Work to ensure VUMC strategy continues to encompass the organization's purpose and values with a focus on coordinating and articulating medium- and long-term goals.
Responsible for VUMC Strategic Workstream meetings, including communication and coordination with workstream leaders and articulating the integration of workstreams aligned with overall strategic directions to drive achievement of goals
Monitor and measure the benefits of improvement activities from a programmatic perspective
Project manage the launch and ongoing activities of a new Brock Family Center for Applied Innovation, of great strategic importance, which will enable Vanderbilt faculty to commercialize ongoing innovation in biomedical and health sciences.
Under the direction of leadership:
Develop opportunities for commercialization and industry partnerships.
Support establishment of shared resources and a pipeline to enable launch of new companies and key industry/venture collaborations
Manage outreach to, and coordinate pitches from, biotech and health tech startup companies interested in partnering with VUMC
Write correspondence on behalf of leadership and facilitate process for submittals
Coordinate research and scientific leadership searches and strategic meetings as well as review of VUMC endowed directorships within the research enterprise and various activities related to research centers and institutes.
Coordinate and monitor Academic Enterprise Staff (AES) meeting content and progress to develop and align execution strategies for the education and research priorities of VUMC
Manage strategic meetings and follow up communications both internally and externally.
Develop and manage strategic content and correspondence:
Write and manage content for institutional websites, social media, and other public-facing resources
Prepare technical presentations for executive leadership
Draft and edit letters of support
Support proposal development/editing as needed
