Summary:
The Arrhythmia Program Technology Manager is responsible for supervising and educating Heart Center staff on device technology, monitoring and scanning. This person also plays a key role in development of new products and services.
This position demonstrates independence and this position also researches new technologies to keep the Heart Center on the cutting-edge as it relates to rhythm management.
Responsibilities:
- Work in collaboration with Innovation Center, electrophysiologists, and outside organizations on conceiving and developing new products, devices, and services related to electrophysiology, cardiac ablation, and related domains.
- Aid in real-time assessment of patient clinical status as it relates to acute changes in rhythm, during electrophysiology procedures.
- Run all EP lab equipment, including mapping systems, electrogram systems, pacing stimulators, ultrasound, defibrillators, RF generators and cryo machine
- Maintain competency and program all brands of implantable devices, including pacemakers, ICDs, loop monitors, and subcutaneous ICDs.
- Oversee education of staff across all locations, related to arrhythmias, cardiac cath lab monitoring, Holter scanning.
- Train, evaluate and maintain competencies, and supervise cardiac cath lab staff as it relates to new technologies, devices or procedures.
- Provide education/expertise to medical students and residents to aid in research projects.
- Interface with industry to assess new technology as it becomes available
- Interface with electrophysiologist, staff, residents, medical students, innovation center, research institute, statistician, and various outside organizations to coordinate research projects and publications.
- Interface with IRB for various research projects.
- Assist with development of new service lines within the Arrhythmia Center.
- Assist with oversight of various databases and assist with recruitment of hospitals and physicians for database participation.
- Other duties as required.
Other information:
Technical Expertise:
- Clinical, laboratory and device experience required
- Knowledge of intellectual property, regulatory and compliance processes, and/or medical device development and commercialization preferred
- Experience working with all levels within an organization is preferred
Education and Experience:
- Certification: Cardiac EP (electrophysiology) Specialist certification required
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in biomedical engineering, nursing, or related discipline required or seven (7) years of experience with cardiac devices in lieu of degree required.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in remote monitoring and real-time arrhythmia/device management or education. Competent in interpretation of all arrhythmias, including supraventricular, ventricular and junctional, as well as all variations of AV block required.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience programming equipment and troubleshooting, for all brands of cardiac arrhythmia implantable devices.
