The Bassett Healthcare Network has retained DCCS to lead an executive search for an Interim and also a Permanent System Director for Laboratory Services.
Nestled in Cooperstown, NY the Bassett Healthcare Network (www.bassett.org) currently consists of five (5) community hospitals, over 24 outpatient clinics, and 20 +school based centers. The Bassett Medical Group is comprised of more than 400 physicians and other advanced practice clinicians who provide primary and specialty care across the region.

The qualified candidate will be an experienced Laboratory Executive licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of New York.
Responsibilities
Develops and accomplishes objectives, strategies, and tactics for the Laboratory/Pathology department with special emphasis on Annual Operating Plan Objectives. Where appropriate, institutes corrective actions, including reallocating resources, reprioritizes, and/or recommends modifications to established plans.
Establishes timely and effective communication with department staff to keep them aware of important corporate, divisional or departmental information and to receive information and insights from employees. Accepts responsibility for all aspects of leadership without blame, complaining or procrastination.
Ensures that all employees in the department know what is to be accomplished in their jobs; whether their performance is satisfactory and what they can do to improve performance. Monitors accomplishment of agreed-upon objectives at the departmental level; and where appropriate, institutes corrective actions, including reallocating resources, reprioritizing, and/or recommending modifications to established plans.
Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology required from an accredited medical technology program, or professional training programs offered through either the military service of the United States or the military service of the state which may, where applicable, be accepted by the NYS Education Department for licensing purposes as equivalent education and training in lieu of all or part of an approved program. Masters degree preferred.
- Candidates must be qualified as a Medical Technologist in accordance with New York State Department of Health regulations.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years Clinical Laboratory experience, 5 years as manager or director.
- Licensure/Certificates: Licensure by NYS SED as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist required. MT (ASCP) preferred.
