The Market Director, Strategy and Business Development contributes to the mission and vision of CommonSpirit Health by leading and facilitating the planning, design, implementation and maintenance of Strategy and Innovation projects, programs, services and opportunities. This includes providing direction and support for the development, interpretation and coordination of complex project analysis for hospital, clinic, market academic partner, and service line strategic plans, business plans, strategic initiatives, innovations and/or other business development activities; providing research, industry intelligence, analysis, ideation, design, development, implementation, optimization and look back assessments.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities
Drive service area planning, strategy and innovation initiatives including strategic planning, environment assessments, white papers, business plans, innovation and growth plans, development and writing of certificate of need applications, and any other applicable research and planning activities.
Gather, analyze, summarize and present internal and external performance, industry, market and other relevant information, trends and ideas that enables service area leadership to make informed decisions and achieve strategic growth.
Develop and utilize ideation, forecasting and modeling tools and techniques.
Proactively work with key business units on their development of plans, strategies, initiatives, innovations and/or other business development activities that are aligned with the organization’s overall direction.
Identify opportunities and take action to build strategic relationships between one’s area and other areas, teams, departments, units or organizations to help achieve business goals. Resolves issues and problems, and makes a significant contribution to team efforts.
Identify areas of opportunity for growth, development, or innovation and effectively engage stakeholders to pursue these opportunities through data analysis, business planning and collaborative problem solving.
Drive strategic planning and implementation with our market academic partner to ensure alignment and progress toward our goals as an academic health system.
Maintain expertise in healthcare industry, market, and service line trends.
Keep clients informed on project progress, status and anticipated completion.
Participate on system committees and task forces as requested.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in business development, healthcare planning or administration, or related field
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Highly organized and ability to execute work independently and effectively within deadlines
Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, programs and strategic portfolios
Effectively collaborate with all levels of staff, management and physicians from across the organization and the community at large
Proven ability to learn and operate computer software programs including word processing, spreadsheet, database, data mining, presentation, graphics and mapping
Knowledge of and ability to perform the processes used to analyze customer activity and demographic data for the purpose of predicting future customer behaviors and trends
Knowledge of and ability to use tools, techniques and processes for exploring and developing potential areas of business growth for the organization
Knowledge of and ability to utilize the processes, tools and techniques for gathering, analyzing, and communicating information about the competitive environment
Knowledge of healthcare industry's trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations and trendsetters; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations
Understanding of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning and ability to apply organizational acumen to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization
Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan
Knowledge of organizational politics and political tactics; ability to effectively navigate formal and informal communication and decision-making chanels
Initiate and participate in activities that foster professional and personal growth. Maintain professional affiliations and accreditations, as appropriate
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
Experience in an academic health system
Market research, business start-up and/or entrepreneurial and/or innovation experience
