Joining our St. Louis ministry as the Regional CMO, along with a team of seven Physician/Clinical Executives, successful candidates will serve as a member of the regional leadership team providing strategic direction of eight facilities, which include two academic institutions and a combined total of 1900 beds with multiple services lines and ancillary locations across the metro area.

Imparts the mission, philosophy, values, and vision of SSM Health and facilitates the integration of values in CQI activities.
Drives the achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs) within the region. This includes quality, safety, mission integration, fiscal performance, growth, access and addressing health disparities.
Identifying strategic initiatives/goals for St. Louis and in collaboration with health system leaders, prioritizing these initiatives and goals and developing plans for implementation.
Continued growth and development of Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs within the ministry.
Working closely with community affiliate and academic affiliate physician leaders to ensure that care demands generated, and service levels agreed upon by the clinical affiliates and partners are satisfied.
In collaboration with the Regional Administrative team and EMR team, identifying and prioritizing key Electronic Medical Record optimization opportunities to improve care delivered and efficiency in the practices.
Works effectively as a team member in a dynamic executive environment where collegiality, subsidiarity and sharing responsibility is highly valued in a matrix organization.
Represents SSM Health in the community by participating in civic organizations and other charitable organizations.
Assumes responsibility for ensuring regulatory compliance throughout all aspects of clinical operations of the ministries.
Establishes, maintains and enhances effective relationships and communication with and between all operating entities of the ministry and partner on related physician organizations inside and out of SSM in the ministry.
Participates in system CMO and CNO leadership forums and local ministry Administrative Council.
Ensuring the development and maintenance of a compliance program for all applicable federal and state statutes and regulations, with an emphasis on developing and implementing regional by-laws.
Continued development of Clinical Programs across the Ministries, working with organizational operators and clinical teams to eliminate unnecessary clinical variations.
Successful continuation of the current infrastructure of quality and safety, with emphasis on 5-star.
Successful coordination with the employed and Academic Medical Practices for integration of medical group clinical operations into the broader SSM integrated delivery network of the region.
Development of an internal pipeline of physician/provider leaders for the region
Continued growth of Population Health program
Redesign and implementation of regional by-laws for the ministry.
Alignment of physicians, both independent and employed, of our Mission, Values and Goals.
Successful Candidates will possess:
Seven-Ten years in a CMO role at a multi-location, integrated health system or equivalent experience. Extra consideration given to candidates who have experience with managing/supervising GME programs and Academic medical staffs.
Experience in a highly matrixed environment with distributed leadership.
Experience managing complex multi-specialty physician service lines and/or multi-site operations within a health system.
Experience leading transformative efforts that improve quality, reduce the cost of care, improve the provider and patient experience and sound operational successes.
Experience leading collaborative efforts in new growth strategies, business development, strategic partnerships and strengthening local, regional and national prominence.
Experience developing/redesigning physician by-laws and other related polices and procedures.
Medical Degree from an accredited institution
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or related field is a plus.
