WittKieffer has been retained by Medstar Health to identify the health system's next Vice President of Strategic and Business Planning. This position is open due to the planned retirement of the incumbent in the role, who has led these functions since 1998.

Reporting directly to Kevin Kowalski, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Strategy, the Vice President, Strategic and Business Planning will lead system-wide strategy and major business planning initiatives to position the system for future success and accelerate growth in the MedStar region – from Central Maryland to Greater Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia, across all lines of business. This executive will be a member of MedStar Health's Leadership Team which is comprised of the top 45 executives in the system and will act as a strategy advisor to the Corporate Executive Team. The Vice President, Strategic and Business Planning will lead a team of ten and have the opportunity to assess and develop the team structure.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of fifteen years of progressive experience in senior strategy roles within major health systems. He/she will have experience working in a complex competitive market and success working in a highly matrixed organization. The successful candidate will bring contemporary practices, advancing and adding to best practices that are being implemented. He/she must be a strong strategic thinker, highly collaborative and relationship-oriented in crafting and facilitating the strategic and business planning initiatives to drive results for the system. A Master's degree is required for this role.
