You Will Be Responsible For:
Maintains performance standards by obtaining authorization information or verifying authorizations are in place for all inpatient and observation patient accounts as required, meets timeline standards established by leadership and contractual or governmental regulations for all patient service lines.
Conducts diligent follow-up on inpatient and observation authorization accounts with third party payers to minimize authorization related denials through phone calls, emails, faxes, and payer websites, updating documentation as needed.
Meets or exceeds audit accuracy standard goal determined by Utilization Management leadership. Ensures integrity of patient accounts by entering appropriate and accurate data.
Verifies that authorizations are consistent with admission levels and documents clear, accurate, precise, and detailed account memos to ensure expeditious processing of patient accounts.
Maintains a close working relationship with clinical partners within Care Management/Utilization Management to ensure continual open communication between the departments.
What You Will Need:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in Patient Financial Services department or a related area such as registration, finance, collections, customer service, medical office, contract management, or utilization management
Ability to maintain confidentiality; meets HIPPA requirements when discussing or disseminating patient related information
Proficient in typing and able to work in various IT environments
High School diploma or GED (Preferred)
The Utilization Management Authorization Representative, under general supervision from the Utilization Management Manager, maintains performance standards by verifying authorizations that are in place for all inpatient and observation patient accounts, meets timeline standards established by leadership and meets contractual obligations for all patient services. Meets or exceeds department audit accuracy standard goal. Obtains authorizations and verifies that inpatient notifications are accurate according to the registration or admission level.
