Clinical Transformation is a Department that is focused on increasing clinical efficiencies at Cedars-Sinai to reduce the total cost of care while maintaining our high level of quality and service. We use evidence and data to identify opportunities to improve efficiency. By partnering with our clinical and operational leadership, we prioritize high leverage projects that can have significant impact within Cedars-Sinai. We work with clinical champions and frontline staff, both in the hospital and ambulatory settings, to develop and implement clinical programs to drive evidence-based best practices. By reducing unwarranted practice variation and creating more integrated systems of care, we strive to make it easier to provide high value care. In collaboration with our managed care contracting and population health teams, we implement value-based contracts and manage risk-based agreements that are of strategic importance to the entire institution. We closely track the clinical and financial outcomes of all our work, including the real-time tracking of risk agreements. Clinical Transformation sits within the Office of the Chief Medical Officer with a dual reporting line to the Executive Vice President of the Medical Network.
The Director of Clinical Transformation will report to the Vice President of Clinical Transformation and will have management responsibility for design and implementation of Clinical Transformation programs to enhance clinical efficiency, appropriateness of care, and successful achievement of value-based initiatives. The Director will guide contributions from Clinical Transformation team members and lead cross-functional teams to ensure that work output leads to achievement of annual goals and long-term strategic plans. The Director will mentor and develop staff members and support the overall growth of knowledge and skill within Clinical Transformation and across the organization. The Director will also contribute to the strategic direction of the Department and partner with collaborators in Population Health, Managed Care, Clinical Leadership, Hospital Operations, and Finance to align with and achieve our shared objectives.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Partner with Vice President, Executive Director, and Medical Director to set the strategic direction of the Department and to identify key priorities
Assume management oversight for design and execution of assigned Clinical Transformation programs to successfully achieve annual goals and priorities and progress toward long-term strategic plans. Ensure appropriate focus of activities, integration with cross-functional stakeholders, and seamless execution.
Ensure that all assigned programs demonstrate appropriate synthesis of insights from data, clinical evidence, operational realities, and payer trends and anticipated evolution.
Enhance and promote collaborative relationships with other groups across the organization, including those within the Office of the CMO, those within the Medical Network, and clinical and operational partners.
Represent Clinical Transformation in cross-functional committees and task forces.
Provide input into staffing decisions (including contracting and management of consultants) and budget development and achievement. Ensure that there is appropriate financial, professional, and time management stewardship in all assigned programs.
Identify areas of needed improvements in CT approach, processes, and performance and support potential enhancements
Provide regular performance feedback to all direct and indirect reports. Support individuals in their development planning. Mentor and coach to enhance performance, and identify areas for development that would be appropriate for team learning.
Drive change management initiatives, both to encourage innovative approaches within CT as well as to gain buy-in and support for transformation across the organization.
Develop strong relationships with cross-functional operational stakeholders and partners across the organization
Leverage demonstrated knowledge and expertise in specific areas of importance to Clinical Transformation in order to elevate skills and performance of team members and contribute to enhancement of work output across the team
