You Will Be Responsible For:
Develops, delivers and maintains training programs and educational materials for computerized patient care documentation and order entry for nurses and providers using adult learning methodologies to ensure a positive learning environment
Monitors correct system usage through reports, chart audits, and departmental feedback producing and delivering re-education as needed
Orients new team members on department policies, processes, and procedures after 1 year of experience within the Informatics department
Mentors new team member on learning training outlines and learning project management principles and processes after 1 year of experience within the Informatics department
Collaborates with other departments as necessary to meet provider, office staff, clinician, and ancillary department educational needs
Assists in the implementation and training of new applications and new processes for providers, clinicians, and other departments as necessary
Maintains confidentiality of security codes and passwords 100% of the time
Participates in hospital committees and meetings as requested
Participate in training and ongoing support of hospital and corporate initiatives as directed
Rounds daily throughout facility providing end user support and re-education related to EMR
Works as a team member keeping tracking sheets up-to-date, following up on issues until resolved and escalating issues appropriately
Responds to provider and clinician issues promptly to ensure timely resolution
What You Will Need:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Microsoft suite of applications knowledge required
Clinical Systems application/Implementation experience preferred.
Experience with leading small groups or projects preferred
Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt training preferred
Epic experience preferred
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
College Degree (AS, Diploma, B.A., B.S. or commensurate experience) in a field of study such as business, IS, or a healthcare related is required
Experience: 2-3+ years’ experience with clinical/technical system application/implementations required.
Yearly participation in ongoing education either formal or through conferences, active professional organization participation, or journal presentations.
Emergency Department experience Preferred.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
Completion of one professional certification within three years and maintenance of certification thereafter if applicable.
Provides training and ongoing support of Nurses, Physicians, Physician office staff, and Ancillary department staff’s use of the Electronic Medical Record. The Clinical Informatics Specialist integrates information technology, clinical practice knowledge, and documentation standards to improve the quality and safety of patient care. This role supports providers, nurses, and ancillary department staff with initial computer training as required by department, ongoing education, troubleshooting issues, new initiatives, and development/improvement of workflows involving the Electronic Health Record. The Clinical Informatics Specialist uses their knowledge of information systems and clinical practice standards to retrieve, identify, manage, and analyze data into meaningful information for clinicians and providers and as a tool to identify opportunities for improvement. This role requires the development, evaluation, and adaption of system tools and/or workflows to support clinical practice. This position is responsible for supporting new implementations and optimization efforts regarding existing system functionalities. The Clinical Informatics Specialist will interact with various departments, levels of leadership (as directed), and Adventist Information Technology as it relates to this position.
