The Information Technology Engineer I provides the highest level of technical skill in the area of managing and maintaining data center facilities. The Information Technology Engineer I is responsible for the operational maintenance, availability, capacity planning and monitoring of critical Data Center related environmental and facilities concerns. This position has extensive technical knowledge and experience in Enterprise Data Center Facilities in the areas of power, cooling and space planning. Day to day responsibilities include overseeing data center facilities operations, active monitoring of all CHRISTUS Datacenters, monitoring detection systems, managing relationships with facilities & technology based vendors, and ensuring the capacity and availability of all the datacenters across the environment. The Enterprise Data Center Engineer I will work with Electrical distribution systems design and evaluation, Mobile Electric Power (MEP) hardware/software products, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), building controls and automation, HVAC cooling systems, airflow balance and analysis, cooling towers, chillers, load calculations and space planning. The position also works as part of a cross-functional team that deals with the full spectrum of technology and will fulfill the role of third level support for data center operations, providing training and direction to other technical staff that perform the bulk of the first and second level support tasks.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or related field or equivalent experience (8 years) required
Extensive knowledge and experience in technical facilities management and operations in the areas of data center systems and software, networking, facilities management, operations and process management, security and project leadership skills
Extensive knowledge in Data Center power management systems and controls
A total of eight (8) years of experience in large corporate systems environment with a wide variety of Information Management systems, networks and technologies required
Minimum of three (4) years of experience in data center facilities operations and management
Prior experience in a health care systems environment is a plus
One or more of the following certifications desired:
International Data Center Authority (IDCA) – Data Center Infrastructure Expert
Institute for Data Center Professionals (IDCP) – Certified Data Center Professional
