Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (Cedars-Sinai) seeks a Vice Dean for Research and Graduate Education to oversee academic and scientific components of all health sciences research and research training activities within one of the most respected institutions in the world, advancing knowledge through innovation and discovery. Cedars-Sinai is pioneering extraordinary advances in scientific discovery with broad translational impact, making an immediate and life-saving difference in the lives of patients and their families across its community and around the world. As Cedars-Sinai is committed to translating innovative scientific findings to its patients, the new Vice Dean will be a scientific visionary and experienced program builder who articulates a clear vision for the next generation of basic and translational research. They will serve as a catalyst and a guiding force that provides vision and leadership around institutional strategic planning for research activities. The Vice Dean will successfully integrate the activity of basic researchers into disease-specific institutes and divisions. The ability to embrace and integrate research across the clinical enterprise and scientific spectrum, including all disciplines in translational science and population health, is essential. The Vice Dean will also expand the research infrastructure, including leading the growth of clinical trials at Cedars-Sinai. Upholding the highest standards of excellence in biomedical research and research education and influencing opportunities for discovery by its medical and biomedical graduate students, the Vice Dean leads the PhD and Master’s Programs in Biomedical Science and Translational Medicine.
In addition to providing oversight of over a dozen research cores, the Vice Dean has leadership oversight of institutional research programs, including the Innovation Center and related programs such as the Clinical Scholars Program, the Postdoctoral Scientist Program, the Precision Health Institute, the Clinical & Translational Research Center, and the Clinical & Translational Sciences Institute. The Vice Dean fosters pre-clinical and clinical research with a commitment to bridging the superb clinical expertise within the Medical Center with world-class research and educational capabilities. They will provide vision and leadership around the Medical Center's research and education missions as it continues to build its extramural funding base and expands its reputation for scholarly excellence.
