As our Labor Relations Manager, you will provide labor relations leadership, guidance and assistance to managers and supervisors. This important role includes:
Interpretation of UC Policy and employment contracts Oversight of compliance issues Enforcement of collective bargaining agreements and HEERA provisions Handling of grievances and arbitration Conducting labor relations training sessions Leading labor management meetings Facilitating working relationships with employee organization representatives
You will also actively participate in local and system-wide bargaining, communicate changes to managers/supervisors and serve as a primary resource in change implementation.
We’re seeking a self-motivated professional with a related Bachelor’s degree and:
Seven or more years of employment relations experience, particular in a unionized environment Advanced knowledge of labor/employment law and the principles and techniques of labor negotiations Ability to analyze and draft proposals for negotiations, settlements, other employment agreements Exceptional communication, analytical, problem-solving and presentation skills Thorough understanding of organizational policies and procedures Ability to handle extremely difficult/volatile situations effectively Computer proficiency with MS Office In-depth knowledge of public sector laws/requirements, the healthcare industry, and higher education preferred JD highly desirable
