WittKieffer has been retained by the University of Maryland Capital Region Health (UM Capital Region), located in Prince George's County, MD, to aid in the recruitment of the System's next Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
UM Capital Region is the newest member of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) which is comprised of 14 hospitals and $4.4 billion in revenue. UM Capital Region is a regional health system committed to serving the residents of Prince George's County. With revenue of $413 million, UM Capital Region is the largest health care provider in the county with two hospitals, an emergency center, an employed medical group, and a surgery center. It is an exciting time in the system's history due to the organization's commitment to transforming healthcare in the community with the construction of two new replacement facilities, including a new flagship hospital, scheduled to open in 2021.
Reporting directly to the President & CEO of UMMS, the CEO will develop a vision and strategy that will position UM Capital Region for future success. S/he will partner closely with corporate and regional leadership to further integrate UM Capital Region into the system, develop a service line structure, and increase physician engagement. The CEO will have the opportunity to identify new talent to fill key positions within the UM Capital Region leadership team and collaborate with physician leadership to recruit new medical staff and improve quality, patient satisfaction, and patient safety. The CEO will play a vital role in changing the system's narrative and improving the relationship with the community it serves. S/he will have an opportunity to lead an evolution in healthcare and make a major impact in a growing, highly diverse community.
The ideal candidate will be an inspirational, engaging executive with ten years of leadership experience in a hospital, preferably within a health system, with a track record of success achieving strong financial, operational, and quality performance. Candidates should have extensive experience partnering with physicians and building relationships. The ideal candidate will be active in their community and understand the importance of a health system's relationship with its local community.
