POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT: Under the direction of the Vice President of Patient Care Services, the Director of Nursing provides leadership for Emergency Medicine Services at Regions Hospital. This position works in a dyad with the Emergency Department Medical Director and is responsible for directing, planning, coordinating and managing the activities associated with patient care in the emergency department. In collaboration with the Medical Director Dyad and other Emergency department leaders, is responsible for continuously improving care, experience and services provided to patients and their family members. Additionally, this role is involved in strategic, operational, financial and business planning, as well as program development and growth for Emergency Services at Regions Hospital. A successful candidate will have the ability to problem solve at multiple levels within the organization, work with diverse teams to accomplish organizational goals, facilitate multi-disciplinary improvement teams, and provide leadership on a daily basis to improve the culture within the emergency department and between the emergency department and other health care operational units.
Master’s Degree in a health care profession, business, health care administration or organizational leadership program, required.
Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's Degree in Nursing required.
Minimum of five years of progressive leadership/management experience in a hospital setting.
Previous clinical and/or leadership experience in Emergency Services required.
Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: Ability to be licensed as a Registered Nurse in state of Minnesota by start date.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of management and leadership practices in the areas of budgeting, personnel management, conflict management and principle-based leadership.
Ability to maintain collaborative working relationships with all levels of management and employees from all internal and external departments.
Ability to thrive in a constantly changing, competitive environment, with many simultaneous high priorities.
Ability to plan, organize, direct and implement functions and systems supportive of the clinical and business aspects of the assigned areas.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to delivery of health care including knowledge of EMTALA, Medicare guidelines, HIPPA, workers’ compensation, patient bill of rights, confidentiality of patient information etc. required.
Strong public relations skills in relating to staff, customers, hospital employees and medical group employees, administration and executives.
Ability to think creatively and proactively and support a work environment that values diversity and encourages problem solving and decision making at the most appropriate level.
Skilled in budgeting, setting targets for clinical and business outcomes and executing action plans to achieve results.
