The Minnesota Hospital Association (MHA), a recognized advocate for the collective interests of hospitals and healthcare systems in Minnesota and leader nationally for Quality and Safety initiatives, has retained WittKieffer to aid in the recruitment of the President and Chief Executive Officer.
MHA represents Minnesota’s 140+ hospitals and health systems, which provide high-quality care for patients and meet the health needs of their communities. Since 1917, MHA has worked to provide Minnesota’s hospitals and health systems with the resources, best practices and guidance to provide an exceptional patient experience and high-quality, affordable care that extends beyond the hospital’s walls. MHA values its role as collaborator with other health care stakeholders and is an influential organization advocating for health care policy.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President and CEO will work closely with the Board, member organizations, and MHA staff to further develop the strategic vision to achieve the organization’s goals and objectives and ensure that policy positions continue to be innovative, aligned with, and supportive of the current and future needs of all Minnesotans and meet the needs of their communities. As the senior leader within the Association, the President and CEO will use his/her knowledge of both federal and state healthcare legislation and regulations and operational principles to effectively and persuasively represent MHA members’ interests. The ability to deliver results in the advocacy arena, build exceptional relationships and coalitions and serve as a credible and effective spokesperson on issues of critical importance will be essential. The key to success for the President and CEO will lie in their ability to lead from a position of engagement, collaboration and teamwork.
Candidates should have a minimum of 5-10 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Well-established advocacy experience and skills, with a personal track record of interacting regularly and effectively with local, state and federal government officials, other healthcare organizations and the media is required. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, innovative change agent with an ability to drive change through relationships based on trust, transparency and mutual respect.
