Fairview Health Services is hiring a full time System Director of Regulatory Investigations in Minneapolis. This Leadership role will develop and implement regulatory response infrastructure across the system to achieve clinical and operational compliance. Partners with quality and regulatory to design and communicate assessment techniques and processes for system regulatory preparation. Remains constantly updated on all CMS and other defined regulatory requirements. Utilizes evidence-based medicine and best practices. This position collaborates with legal, risk management, and compliance and is the key interface between regulatory, quality and safety to ensure regulatory compliance. Ensures high level of quality and timeliness in all related written responses and correspondences. Fosters a culture of integrity, continuous improvement, efficiency, collaboration and innovation. Maintains knowledge and compliance of all laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards.
Responsible for oversight of the M Health Fairview Regulatory Response process (standard process for governmental agency visits); Is the key interface with external regulators for onsite investigations, implementation of action plans, and sustainability of the improvements; Manages relationships and maintains communication with external regulators including CMS and the Department of Health. Provides system coordination and direct support for regulatory visits from healthcare regulatory agencies (CMS, MDH, DHS, CLIA, OIG, etc.), excluding DEA; provides support to programs/departments for other agency visits. Coordinates timely and action-oriented response to findings from healthcare regulatory agency visits and regulatory complaints that hardwire sustainable change.
Licensing – Designs the system for coordination/oversight/tracking of system licenses (MDH, DHS, etc.) to assure adequate licensing and avoid duplication.
Assures compliance with required reporting to regulatory agencies through consensus of the interdisciplinary team; Tracks and trends reporting to regulatory agencies as required for maltreatment of minors, vulnerable adult, and others to appropriate agencies; Partners with quality and regulatory to maintain database of plans of correction to assure ongoing compliance through monitoring of audit activity; Partners with compliance to assure education to leadership and staff as reporting requirements change.
Assures policies are compliant with regulations and escalates when necessary to Quality, Compliance, and Operations; Reviews for completeness to ensure proper policies are established to meet legal, regulatory and compliance requirements; Facilitates and ensures policies are revised as regulations are updated.
Provides education about regulatory bodies and compliance; Provide tools and processes for evaluation of internal systems, processes, and functions; Identifies learning needs of leadership and others; Identifies formal education opportunities as needed.
Partners to provide support for various certifications for specialty programs (disease-specific certifications, trauma, bariatrics, etc.) needs; Supports regulatory visits process; Assures timely and accurate submission of data, etc.
Bachelor’s degree in related field
3-5 years regulatory investigations experience/exposure working with licensing, regulatory and/or accreditation agencies with increasing accountability for improvements and outcomes.
Experience and accountability working in a large, integrated health care delivery system.
Master’s degree in related field
CMS or other regulatory compliance work; clinical background; legal experience
