University Medical Center (UMC) New Orleans is the academic medical center of LCMC Health, a Louisiana-based, not-for-profit health system. UMC New Orleans was conceptualized, built and funded by the state of Louisiana. It is leased and managed by LCMC Health, which also manages Children’s Hospital, Touro, New Orleans East Hospital, and West Jefferson Medical Center.
UMC, with revenues of $620 million, encompasses a newly constructed, state-of-the-art, 2.3 million square foot campus anchoring the developing biomedical district. With a capacity for 446 beds, including 60 behavioral health beds, UMC New Orleans offers comprehensive primary care and specialty care, cutting edge research and the region’s only Level I Trauma Center. As the state’s largest teaching hospital and training facility for many of the state’s physicians, nurses and allied health professionals, UMC New Orleans plays an integral role in shaping the future of healthcare for the region. It serves as a key partner of LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans, Tulane University School of Medicine and other academic institutions. The CEO will lead all operations of UMC and collaboratively engage and entrust the UMC Administrative Council to lead the organization in their respective areas of responsibility. S/he will work with LCMC leadership to develop and implement a strategic vision and plan for UMC to position UMC as a regional provider of choice known for clinical excellence, while staying true to the mission and vision of UMC. The CEO will engage and partner with LSU and Tulane Leadership in the delivery of the highest quality clinical care and medical education.
The CEO will lead the organization in the creation of a culture, which has at its core, the highest level of commitment to: quality outcomes; patient satisfaction; patient experience; employee engagement; employee satisfaction; service excellence; operational discipline; financial stewardship; accountability; and, pride. The CEO and Administrative Council will lead UMC to achieve operational excellence and sustainable financial performance. S/he will continue the focus on strengthening a culture of quality across UMC as measured by publicly reported measures. The CEO and Administration will engage the faculty as partners in clinical and operational excellence.
The CEO will represent UMC in the Greater New Orleans community, regionally, and nationally. S/he will advocate on behalf of UMC and the patients it serves and its dedicated employees.
The CEO reports to Bill Masterton, Market CEO LCMC Health and the UMC Board of Directors. Positions reporting directly to the CEO include the: Chief Financial Officer; Chief Nursing Officer; Chief Medical Officer; Chief Academic Officer; Chief Operating Officer; Chief Experience Officer; and, Vice President of Clinical Research.
