Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of the physician practice, the Administrator has responsibility for managing and providing senior leadership for all operations and staff of an orthopaedic ambulatory surgery center comprised of six operating rooms. In cooperation with physician and hospital owners, as well as other members of the team, the Administrator will also be responsible for meeting or exceeding all budgeted performance and financial goals while enhancing patient satisfaction and retention, operational performance, and quality initiatives. The Director of Nursing reports to the Administrator. The facility is open weekdays only and is a joint venture between the physician group and a local healthcare system. However, the physician practice is responsible to the ASC’s Board for day-to-day management of the facility.
-Overall daily operational management of the Partnership.
-Develop, evaluate and promote implementation of a continuous quality improvement program.
-Responsible for enhancing operational effectiveness, standardization, supply management, cost containment, patient care and patient satisfaction.
-Ensure that the day-to-day operations are conducted in accordance with clinical practice standards, as well as any applicable regulatory, third party payer, and accreditation requirements. Responsible for meeting or exceeding all budgeted financial and other clinical and non-clinical performance goals for assigned areas of responsibility.
-Develop statistical indicators to use in evaluating the overall operations and quality of care provided.
-Responsible for managing, monitoring and performance reporting of all operational activities related to annual operating plans and for taking corrective actions when and where necessary.
-Facilitate positive effective working relationships with the Practice, Governing Body, Medical Director, staff and physicians.
-Negotiate and control all external contracts, such as those with physicians, ancillary services, plant maintenance, and purchasing agreements.
-Establish pricing for procedures based on cost analysis and local market standards.
-Develop and ensure compliance with appropriate policy and procedures.
-Review and approve the disciplinary action and/or discharge of employees in coordination with Human Resources and other parties as required.
-Implements a program of job-based orientation, training, and ongoing evaluation for all employees.
-Manage the clinical departments of nursing, central supply, medical records, and housekeeping, and supervise the contracted services of laboratory, radiology, pharmaceuticals, laundry and biomedical engineering.
-Monitor the adequate function of surgical equipment and patient care equipment and follow-up on repairs.
-Manage billing and credentialing functions.
-Collaborate with the Medical Director and serve as a liaison in problem areas with the medical staff.
-Call upon and coordinate the use of corporate personnel and group resources. This includes, but is not limited to, corporate legal and financial advisors, staffing, credentialing, marketing, human resources, and development.
-Attend Board meetings and keep required reports.
