DUTIES: Seeking a full-time outpatient based Gastroenterologist to serve Veteransat theAltoona VA Medical Center Specialty Clinic. The Gastroenterologist will provide office-based medical care focused on diagnosing and treating disorders ofthe gastrointestinal system. Responsibilities may include: Evaluation, diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal disorders in an office setting; serving as a consultant to both inpatient and outpatient medical practitioners; ordering and performing specialized tests as indicated and appropriate for this setting, including upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. Additionally, the Gastroenterologist will assist in transitioning care to Pittsburgh VA Medical Center's Gastroenterology Service or local Gastroenterologists when additional interventions beyond this facility's capabilities are needed.
This is a bargaining unit position.
Work Schedule: Tour of Duty is typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Citizenship of the United States. Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion ofresidency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred tobe board certified or board eligible in Gastroenterology.
