Job Summary: The VP & CEO provides leadership and direction for the overall day to day operations of Erlanger Murphy Medical Center located in Murphy North Carolina. The VP & CEO is a Corporate VP for Erlanger Health System and the site CEO for Murphy Medical Center. The CEO Plans directs and coordinates the development of short and long range objectives; is responsible for achieving the organization's financial and non-financial goals; ensures quality patient care; physician and patient satisfaction, and employee engagement. Works closely with peers in the health system to ensure that plans are coordinated with health system plans for the effective use of corporate resources.
General Responsibilities: Coordinates the activities of the hospital leadership and works with them to develop short and long range objectives, policies, and procedures. Ensures that policies are uniformly understood and consistently interpreted and administered. Establishes the organization hierarchy and delegates limits of authority to subordinates leaders; prescribes the specific limitations of the authority of subordinates regarding policies, contractual commitments, expenditures and personal actions. Reviews with corporate CFO and approves all financial reports, budgets, and major expenditures; directs, establishes, reviews, and adjusts charges for services in cooperation with the Corporate CFO; and maintains accreditation and licensure standards of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospital Organizations, Medicare, Medicaid, state licensure, regulatory agencies, and similar organizations. Analyzes operating results of the organization and its principal components relative to established objectives and ensures that appropriate steps are taken to correct unsatisfactory conditions.
Department Position Summary: Serves as a member of the Executive Management team by administering the operations of a specified division (s) of services as assigned by Senior Management. Further serves as a conduit for the implementation and maintenance of guidelines and visions of Executive Management and the Board of Trustees of Erlanger Health System (EHS) to ensure quality and customer satisfaction within assigned areas of EHS.
This position is responsible for leading, directing and coordinating the functions of the Erlanger Murphy Medical Center, to include the departments of:
Environmental Services Engineering Data Processing Purchasing and Receiving Pharmacy Contracted Support Services Marketing Dietary Information Management / Medical Records / JCAHO Human Resources Registration Clinical Departments Administration
Responsible for a continuously improving the quality and level of patient care services within the Erlanger Health System and to customers within the community.
Education: Required: B.S. degree in health care related field or business administration is required.
Preferred: Masters in a related Field
Experience: Required: Minimum of five (5) years hospital experience required. Evidence of leadership abilities required.
Preferred: Critical Access Hospital Experience.
