The Urgent Care Clinic (UCC) Physician will provide the full range of medical care to acutely ill patients in an urgent care setting. Occasionally the UCC Physician may be required to perform services in the inpatient setting based upon the needs of the medical center. Evaluation and assessment of patients followed by evidenced-based treatment and interdisciplinary care will be performed in a safe, patient-centric and team-based model of care delivery. Coordination of care with primary care, specialty care. mental health and other members of the patient's care team is considered an essential component of this position in order to ensure optimum patient health and the delivery of quality and efficient care; proper patient education; and maximal patient satisfaction.
*Provides medical services to Veterans on an outpatient (UCC) basis, and on inpatient basis when requested by supervisor. Inpatient provision of care includes medical ward patients.
* Maintains timely and complete patient medical records that meet Compliance Program and The Joint Commission requirements.
* Participates in the use of clinical practice guidelines, provision of standard of care to patients, and meeting relevant performance measures as mandated by VHA (Veterans Health Administration).
* Communicates with other healthcare providers, as necessary, to ensure the timely access and continuity of care to Veterans.
* Acts as the consultant for other physicians and mid-level providers for urgent/acute conditions that may arise in primary care and medicine clinics.
* Represents the Urgent Care and Medical Services staff at appropriate facility-level steering, committee, and board assemblies.

Citizenship of the United States.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of a residency trainingor its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience: At least 5 years Urgent Care or Emergency Room experience. Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, and/or Emergency Medicine. VA Experience and/or experience in Acute Care as a Hospitalist is desired.

Note: Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) before the starting date of the position. The BLS requirement is satisfied by successfully completing an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider Course or Military Training Network (MTN). The ACLS requirement is satisfied by attaining, and maintaining, current status through an approved AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support Course. No online certifications will be accepted.
