The Hospital Council of Northern and Central California is a nonprofit hospital and health system trade association representing more than 200 hospitals in 50 of California’s 58 Counties – from Kern County to the Oregon border. Our membership ranges from small, rural hospitals to large, urban medical centers and represents more than 38,000 licensed beds. The Hospital Council’s mission is to help our member hospitals provide high quality health care and to improve the health of the communities they serve.
This full-time position is primarily responsible for providing administrative support to the Regional Vice President (“RVP”). Duties include, but are not limited to: word processing; formatting and proofreading correspondence, presentations, reports, and other business-related documents; preparing Section meeting and committee packets, including agenda, supporting materials; scheduling appointments; minutes; managing calendars and contact lists; monitoring deadlines and ensuring sufficient lead time to meet deliverables; monitoring local government meeting agendas; arranging travel; completing expense reports; maintaining website content; filing; answering phones; processing mail; coordinating projects at the direction of the RVP; and managing all office functions and services (lease, copier service, etc.).
The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of administrative support experience; hospital administrative experience preferred. Must have ability to work on multiple projects; prioritize, organize, and meet deadlines. Ability to anticipate work to be done and assist RVP in such tasks needed to advance the work of the Hospital Council is necessary. Must be able to work quickly, efficiently, and accurately in a high-volume environment. Must be extremely organized and detail-oriented. Advanced skill level with MS Office applications, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required. Familiarity and experience using various social networking sites, such as Twitter and Facebook. Additional requirements are the ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Must demonstrate professional presentation on the telephone and have the ability to screen and handle telephone calls in the absence of other staff members. Must have the ability to travel occasionally and possess a valid CA driver’s license with an acceptable DMV driving record.

Working in partnership with the California Hospital Association (CHA), we provide leadership at the local, state and federal levels on legislation, budget concerns and regulatory issues. We work with county boards of supervisors, chambers of commerce, local departments of health and other agencies to assure the hospital’s voice is heard.
