Swedish Medical Center is looking for an Authorization Specialist to work in our Metropolitan Park East Campus in Seattle, WA\.
The Authorization Specialist position functions as an integral team member of the Revenue Cycle, providing account sponsorship: ensuring patient account reimbursement by obtaining demographic, complex insurance information, partnering with Care Management to provide clinical information, and ultimately ensuring the required authorizations are in place\.
In this position you will:
Verify insurance information \(authorization has beenobtained for appropriate procedure and diagnosis codes, for the correct campuslocation, with the correct date of service and patient class\), obtain eligibility, coverage limitations, deductibles, and co\-pays\.
Resolve variances regarding missing authorizations, referrals, non\-covered services, or information\.
Make referrals and follow up assure application completion for benefits such as Medicaid, Basic Health Plan, and charity care\.
Provide notification of admission and/or discharge as required by payers
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school diploma or GED\.
Minimum one year of patient registration, financial counseling or insurance company experience\.
Exhibits great attention to detail\.
Takes initiative with skilled problem solving in a rapidly changing and stressful environment\.
Previous healthcare experience in either a provider or payor site\.
Familiarity with online insurance verification portals, electronic tools, and general office equipment\.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Associate's degree in Business or Accounting\.
2 yrs experience in a medical inpatient or outpatient admitting setting\.
Medical terminology experience\.
Knowledge of Epic registration and authorization functions\.
